Upper East Side Campus

Summer School– BIBS UES and Shunyi offer a four-week Summer School program, immediately after the end of the school starting in mid-June. Many of our UES foreign-hired and Chinese staff continue to this program. The Summer School has levelled small group English classes in the morning and a range of activities in the afternoon, including: Sports, Arts, Music etc. There are a few fieldtrips planned. If interested in finding out more, please get information and the QR code from our UES Reception.

School Documentation Requests– At this time of year, our office staff receive many documentation requests for travel certificates, stamped reports and transcripts. It is also a busy time for our staff due to a lot of school events- so we ask that parents make requests well in advance.

Published Reports-Reports are published online on the last day of school; parents are reminded that they need to log into the Managebac (MB) site to access the reports. Parents should download a softcopy of each report and save to a secure place. Copies of reports are often requested by academic institutions overseas and increasingly in China when parents are looking to move to new schools. MB access assistance can be given from the admission office staff. Please contact:

ISA- Parent Information Meeting– Parent of G3 and G4 students, we will give an overview of our school results for the ISA assessment done in February 2018. We have identified this time as it is following the G4 Market Day Performance: Wednesday 6th June 11:00-12:00 in the 2F Auditorium. We will look at general results, looking at the data in comparison to other groups of schools but not look at individual cases. However, it might be helpful if you bring your child’s results to look at during the presentation.

PTA Appreciation- Thanks so much to all the PTA Volunteers that support our school this school year! We had our annual PTA Appreciation event on Thursday afternoon- volunteers that were not able to attend- thanks so much for all your support this year ☺

World Children’s Day– was celebrated on Friday with lots of field trips. It was a great end of year event for the classes and grade levels. It was combined with many classes birthday celebration for the end of May and those children whose birthday is in the summer holidays ( June and July).

Water Fun Day– Next Friday, we will celebrate Water Fun Day at BIBS UES.

This week at the BIBS Shunyi Campus we have been reflecting on our learning and getting out and about;

  • •On Wednesday we had our Student Led Conferences. It was good to see such a wonderful turn out from the parents. While walking around their was considerable engagement taking place between the students and their parents. By all accounts it seems like it was a fun time for all concerned. Thank you so much to the teachers for their efforts and to the parents for their positive feedback.
  • •On Thursday we had the Grade Four students out on a field trip to Xiedao Amusement Park and the Kindergarten were also out enjoying the sun at the Butterfly Garden.
  • •Our third block of ASAs finished this week. They have been a great success, The combination of teacher and outside providers ensure that we have an opportunity to meet nearly all the needs of our students.

Special notice; There will be make up ASA classes on Wednesday June 6th for those ones provided by outside providers on Wednesdays, that were missed due to our Student Led Conferences this week. If your child wishes to attend them please arrange for them to be picked up at the end of the ASAs at 16:45 pm as there will be no school buses.

U’19 Girl’s Football Match

This week the girls played against St Paul’s American School in an U’19 Football match.  They showed true grit and determination despite the heat and delay in kick off.  Unfortunately though they lost 2- 0. However they can be proud of their participation and representation of BIBS. Well done girls!!!

This year’s ASAs finish today on the 1st June. We hope all students have enjoyed the range of ASA’s we have provided this year and we will strive to add more next year. Buses will leave school at 3:35 next week every day.

We have our Celebration of Learning coming up in the near future. Please discuss with your children the projects they have worked on all year and we hope you can join us and look at all the work they have done.

Dongrun Campus

It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of another school year. I was mentioning to a few parents earlier this week that there has been a significant amount of progress achieved this year, much to be grateful for and many people to thank. Sometimes, it can be difficult to see this progress or remember how far we have come when there are challenges and issues facing you in the immediate present time. For example, our curriculum has developed, our overall standard of teacher qualifications has progressed, our community reputation has developed, our admissions processes and total numbers have improved, our educational program and departments have developed, our assessment and student reporting processes have also improved. The fact is that our education has experienced significant development when compared to 12+ months ago.

There are many people who have contributed to this end, such as the tireless efforts of our Founder and her staff that have supported our campus and its development in more ways than anyone will ever know, all our teachers, both Chinese and English, our PTA representatives, our office and non-teaching staff groups, our Executive leadership group and the list goes on. Let’s be proud of who we are, what we do and what we have achieved together.

Someone once said that children are the world’s most valuable resources and its best hope for the future. Today is International Children’s Day and it has been an absolute joy to celebrate all children in our campus today. We celebrated their innocence, potential, uniqueness, personalities and the joy they bring to us all. There was a lot of fun with water, ice creams, games and generally having a great time. We are very proud of our students and I’m sure all parents can say the same thing about their children.

The final PTA Meeting for the year took place this Tuesday afternoon. The support from the PTA has been greatly appreciated throughout the 2017/18 academic year. The Principal wishes to make special mention of our PTA President, Ling Jin (mum of Xuanming Zhang) for the great leadership and work demonstrated this year. Ginny has led with great distinction, always acting in the best interests of the families of Dongrun as well as the future benefit of the school. Special thanks also to the PTA vice presidents: Nian Wang (mum of Yixuan Feng), Shijing Zhou (mum of Yichen Chen), Fan Ping (mum of Xiaoqi Wei), Hong Liang (mum of Jiaheng Wu).

We thank all class representatives who formed the PTA for their efforts, support and contributions. You are all greatly appreciated and valued.

Next week, there will be a special Chinese Language assembly on Monday afternoon with other activities led by our Chinese Language teachers. The Chinese Language and Mathematics examinations will then take place on Monday and Tuesday of the following week which is the last week of school.

The very special graduation ceremony for all Kindergarten students will take place next Wednesday, on June 6 at 2:00pm. We hope that parents will be able to join with us on this special occasion.

There will be an IPC graduation for all Grade 3 and Grade 4 students who have successfully participated and completed their IPC studies in Milepost 1 of the IPC on June 11 during the Monday assembly time at 3:00pm.

This is a reminder for all parents that the last day of school, being Friday June 15 will be a half day of school for all students. Students will depart school at 12:00pm.
