Thank you all for your amazing efforts and assistance for a smooth and dynamic learning week at BIBS. Please find the following school updates for your information. We wish you and your family a peaceful and relaxing weekend into summer.
Upper East Side Campus：
Re-Scheduled PTA Family Fun Day– Due to the forecast of rain for the whole day on Saturday we have decided to reschedule the PTA Family Fun Day to the next day, Sunday 22nd April. This is the observed Earth Day around the world so please do come and join us for this great community event, which is supporting Earth Day this year.
2018-19 Tuition Fees– Once again, thanks to those that have paid these in a timely manner. If you have not yet paid, it is important fees are these paid this week, as this effects placement of students.
ASA Block 3 Fees– thanks to the parents that have paid these this week.
School Uniform– Parents and students are reminded that BIBS is a uniform school; the students now need to be wearing the summer formal uniform and the summer PE uniform. Teachers are giving reminders currently, but we will issue uniform reprimand notices for those not in uniform after the May Holiday. Parents please support your child by ensuring they have the correct uniform- if you are still waiting for items ordered, then please ensure your child has clothing that is similar in colour until it arrives.
Supervision of Students on Campus – After 4pm there are no teachers supervising students. If children are with their parents on the campus then they must be in close proximity of them- if the students are outside then supervising parents must be outside. Several students are leaving the bus pick up area of the cafeteria to go and play on the playground- Students have then been left at school and this is highly disrespectful to parents that need to come and collect them and to our office staff that need to stay late waiting for them. All bus students need to wait in the cafeteria and not go onto the field or playground equipment- we ask parents to explain this to your child this week.
Congratulations to students and teachers at Shunyi MS/HS for their musical of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Great show!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
A huge congratulation to the team for putting together such a great performance. Students have presented their first performance on Thursday night with the second one due for Friday. The cast are magnificent with some outstanding acting roles. What is also particularly impressive is the choreography as this was managed by two of our own grade 10 students! Thank you to all parents, students and staff who went to the event and saw the huge talent our students have to offer.
Congratulations to our girl’s football team who won their first game 1 – 0 against Haileybury. The boys also played and lost 5 – 2 but played against older students so this is also a good result which shows the grit and determination our students have.
30th April – 4th May
Students will enjoy a week’s holiday before the final push towards exams. From the 2nd to the 4th of May our staff will be enjoying professional development days developing our skills as educators. We hope that our students will spend the time wisely, preparing for their end of year exams.
THE ANIMATION SENSATION
We are into our final week of preparations for this year’s annual performing arts show, The Animation Sensation. Yesterday we had our first set of rehearsals in the theatre and the performances are just about ready to go on show. It is going to be a wonderful event. We hope you have got your tickets for the show. Next week families wishing to purchase more than their two tickets that were permitted this week can do so. We are hoping to fill every seat as we think the performers deserve a full house.
This week we hosted an Open Classroom for any parent to attend on Tuesday morning between 9:00am – 12:00pm. It was wonderful to see so many supportive parents in every classroom and we wish to thank all those who took the time out of their busy schedule to come and experience a regular set of classroom activities. We hope you found the experience interesting and worthwhile. If there are any questions arising out of the open classroom, please contact your PTA representative and they will forward the questions to the PTA.
DEEP LEARNING WEEK
This is a final reminder and request to all parents about the International Deep Learning event taking place next Monday and Tuesday. If you have not already supported this event by sending resources or research findings in to the class teacher, please do your best on the weekend to find some resources and send them in on Monday.
EARLY FINISH TIME NEXT FRIDAY
After the Animation Sensation has finished next Friday, all children will depart from the Century Theatre in Liangmaqiao with their parents and can go home early. If this poses a difficulty for parents or they do not intend to attend the Show, please contact the Homeroom teacher early next week in order to make arrangements for the collection of all children.
3RD ANNUAL FAMILY SPORTS CARNIVAL
Don’t forget to save the date for our 3rd annual family sports carnival event. The carnival will take place on Friday, May 11. It will be a fun day of sports participation and competition for all students, parents and teachers. We hope you will be able to come on the day. The teachers will be out to revenge their loss in the teachers vs parents tug-of-war event.
LABOUR DAY & PD DAYS
Please be reminded that our school will be closed April 30 – May 1 for Labour Day holiday and the rest of that week (May 2-4) there are no classes due to staff professional development days.
