Preventive measures in daily life: wash your hands in the right way; cover your nose and mouth with a tissue while sneezing or coughing; take a balanced diet and have moderate exercise; have plenty of rest and avoid burnout; The family with two children should isolate the sick one, if possible.

If the child shows the following symptoms:

Fever (usually 3-5 days’ continuous fever) and body temperature up to 39-40 celsiusdegree;

Eye discomfort: tears, bloodshot eyes, cough, sore joints, fatigue

Please visit doctors for timely diagnosis and treatment, and rest at home until the child recovers fully from flu and then come back to school.

At the same time, schools have raised the level of disinfection prevention work in all regions of the campus. If the child has any discomfort, parents should promptly inform the homeroom teacher and the school nurses, so that our school can take the necessary measures.

We hope that you all had a wonderful time during the Winter break. Although the weather is rather cold outside there is a lot of excitement around school and in the classrooms as the students catch up on what they have been doing over the festive season and discuss their current and next units of inquiry.

Some of the things that have been taking place this week;

  • We are now aware of the names of the two IB Assessors who will be visiting our school on March 5th and 6th.  They are Donnah and Ben from Australia and Canada respectively. They work for well-known IB schools in Australia and Singapore. In the coming weeks we will be working towards making them feel welcome and getting ready to share our approaches towards learning and teaching with them.
  • There are a number of interesting summative assessments and provocations taking place around the Elementary school. There are classes taking over other classes and deciding how and what should be taught. Students have been creating their own stories with the use of light and sound, and others have been demonstrating how they can convey their understandings attained from their units of inquiry and how they have integrated different subject areas along the way.
  • The ES staff have been reviewing their essential agreements and looking at ways to further integrate the different subject areas collaboratively during their new units of inquiry.
  • There will be two ES assemblies this month; Grade One will have an assembly on January 12th and Kindergarten will have their assembly on January 26th. Parents are always welcome!
  • The Grade Five staff will be hosting a meeting with their parents to discuss the upcoming Exhibition in April on January 16th from 17:30-18:30 in room A203.
  • On Friday the students met with their buddies to share their learning during their current units of inquiry and to attain ideas about the things they would like to inquire into during their new units of inquiry.
